The Future Kick Your Ass - Gamest Diagram 1994

Fifteen years ago this month Gamest magazine ran the SSF2T character ranking diagram below. DeeJay, of all characters, sat at the top back then. Master Foosuke used Dhalsim to win the national tournament that spring but he had been dominating with DeeJay leading up to the finals. Also, it was around that same time that Gamest ran an article about the block-away land-behind style of ambiguous cross-up. Ichirou discusses this trick over here. In the screenshots all the way at the bottom Ryu must hold right for the first one and hold left to block the second one.

By the way, T.Hawk went from 2nd in Gamest's earlier SSF2 diagram (+11) all the way to 2nd from the bottom in the ST ranks.

Super Uriajo!

Many early Gamest articles were written out by hand and then entered into a word processor later. This led to some great typos the most famous of which was "Zangyura no Super Uria-jo." You can see how this looks similar to "Zangief no Super Lariat" in Japanese:
